Farewell, Windows 10 — and thank you for the memories

Today is October 14, 2025 — the official end of support for Windows 10, and I can’t help but look back.

Exactly ten years ago, I had the privilege to be part of Microsoft Serbia’s W101010 pilot program, where ten of us from different professional backgrounds tested the Windows 10 Insider Preview for 10 days — both at work and at home — sharing our impressions under the hashtag #W101010.

Here’s our group photo taken at the end of the program in the Microsoft Serbia office. A special moment — both for us and for Windows 10, which was about to start a whole new era of Windows.

Back then, I wrote on my blog:
“Ahead of the new Windows 10 OS launch, Microsoft’s local office selected 10 people from various professional areas to use Windows 10 Insider Preview as their main OS for 10 days… I thought, ‘Why not? Even if it’s unfinished, exploring the new Windows will be fun — a little testing never hurt anyone.’”

I installed build 10130 on several machines — from a modest Core i3 desktop to a powerful Lenovo Z710p laptop with an i7 and 8 GB of RAM — testing the new Start Menu, Edge browser, Cortana, the updated security features, and universal apps.

Looking back a decade later, I can say Windows 10 truly fulfilled its mission: it brought together the best of Windows 7 and 8, delivered stability, and became the foundation for today’s modern Microsoft 365 and Windows 11 ecosystem.

Thank you, Windows 10 — it was a pleasure being part of your story even before your official launch on July 29, 2015.

P.S.
Where were you when “the Ten” arrived — and what’s your favorite Windows 10 memory?
